The PsExec utility is designed to ister systems running Windows NT, 2000, XP and Server 2003 operating systems and is part of the PSTools suite of tools.

Traditional remote computer management programs, such as Telnet or PC Anywhere, are certainly convenient, but have one significant drawback. To install and use them, you need to have a client part installed on the remote machines you want to access.

PsExec allows remote execution of commands on other systems without needing client installation, simplifying remote management.

PsExec is a lighter version of the familiar Telnet tool. This program allows remote execution of commands on remote machines, thus controlling any processes that this type of control. At the same time, there is no need to manually install the client part. For example, it is possible to remotely run tools like IpConfig in interactive mode, and thus obtain information about the remote machine locally. Installing the program is elementary - you just need to copy the PsExec executable file to the folder for executable files on your PC.

Must run on Windows NT, 2000, XP and Server 2003.
Able to execute commands remotely on target machines.
No need for client side installation.

PROS
Allows remote execution of programs and scripts on Windows machines.
Provides output retrieval for executed commands.
Features convenient and efficient system istration tools.

CONS
Can propagate malware if not properly secured.
Requires advanced technical knowledge to use.
Lacks a graphical interface.

When there is an emergency at my businesses computers when I'm out of town I turn to PS exec. PS exec has gotten me out of several tight spots already. PS exec can access your computers without installing a client on them so as long as you have PS exec then you can fix your computer when you're far away so your business can go on and continue to make your money while you're out of town . it's okay to trust your employees with your computers if you have PS exec .

Think of Tellnet, but more compact. That's what PsExec is, a tool that let's s do everything a traditional computer management software does. But without having to have a client part installed on the machines you want to access. PsExec byes that requirement! PsExec is part of the PSTools suite of tools.
